Preparing For The Tourists

After the very quiet winter here in the village where we live the place is slowly coming alive in preparation for the start of the tourist season. The hotels, stores, restaurants etc are all getting a spruce up so they are ready for the arrival of the first tourists.
Easter here in Greece is the biggest holiday and the most celebrated so a few of the hotels are going to be open for that, it is early this year, Easter Sunday being 4th April, there will be the smell of lamb roasting on the spits everywhere as the Greeks celebrate the end of their fasting and they can eat meat again.
Although Greece is going through an economic crisis at the moment and the cost of living has risen the government (and the local people) are hopeful that people will still visit and enjoy their vacations. The country is so beautiful and the people are some of the friendliest in the world so if you have not booked your vacation yet for this year then please consider coming over to Greece.
We live on the island of Crete which is the largest of the islands and there is so much to see and do, you will not be disappointed.
This is the harbour in Rethymnon where you can sit at one of the many Tavernas and enjoy some delicious Greek food.

Thanks for reading
